From 1 January 2012 will be charged for using Google Maps

Users who post their own links from Google Maps service on their sites in the future will have to pay for this service.

Google on the first day of next year will will start to charge for use of its maps, in case this service has more than 25,000 clicks in one day on a web site, reports BBC.

Websites, especially travel agencies, use Google Maps to display the user interesting places for which they are interested.

The reports indicate that Google will charge four dollars for every 1,000 clicks over the limit.

Google says that the limit of 25,000 clicks will affect only 0.35% of users, that company is aware that the developers of specific web pages will need time to estimate the extent of use of Google Maps and take some action, if they considered necessary:

"As a continuation of growth in the use of our maps, it is necessary to secure and long-term future of the service, so that it remains sustainable especially because they use highly profitable websites," the statement said Google.
